“Portraits of Manitou” ~ Photo Show of Emma Crawford Coffin Races Opens 10/5

Manitou Springs Emma Crawford Coffin Race portraits come alive in Cottonwood Center for the Arts Studio #105 in “Portraits of Manitou”. Photographer and artist Neil Talbott shows the fascinating and quirky world of Manitou Springs Colorado with his Manitou Portraits during the month of October.

Opening October 4th and continuing to November 4th, stop in and prepare yourself for 2011 Emma Crawford Coffin Races and Cottonwood’s 3rd Annual Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration.

Mural Project at Cottonwood Comes Alive

After nearly a year in the planning and permitting process, Cottonwood Center for the Arts has finally started work on an artsy 25 foot by 78 foot mural.

The amount of paint needed for the mural seemed to increase exponentially as the day wore on but we still hadn’t lost our one piece of chalk or Cono, our supervisor, by the time the thunder rolled in.

Waiting in FrameWorks to be picked up for Friday, August 26th’s Opening Reception of “Dog Dayz of Summer” is Neil Talbott’s just framed watercolor. The hot and spicy work is a pen and ink study finished with a watercolor washes in red, green and yellow.

Now available as a signed, limited edition giclee, Christine of Frameworks has created several unique framing options for Neil’s chili ristra wreath along with her signature ability to custom design a frame that works perfectly for your decor.

“Dog Dayz of Summer”, Cottonwood’s Free steamy summer art show, opens at their Last Friday Open House at 427 E. Colorado. From 5pm to 8pm, artists will open their studios and galleries for a look at what’s new on the easel. The Springs Cupcake Truck will be out front and the upstairs galleries will host some of Colorado Spring’s cutest rescue dogs for you take home along with an artwork or two.

Colorado Cowgirl ~ Portrait in Progress Comes to Life in Color

Working against a July 22nd show deadline, local illustrator Neil Talbott highlights his pen and ink portrait of “Colorado Woman”with light watercolor washes.

The final version, artfully framed by Cristine Colvin of Frameworks, Cottonwood Center for the Arts’ own in house framer, is being hung at this month’s show in the Herbertson Gallery for “Hats, Boots & Chaps”.

More of Neil’s commissions and portraits can be seen in his studio,#105, at Cottonwood’s Last Friday Open House on July 29th from 5pm to 8pm. The show, full of some of Colorado Springs finest artists’ homage to the 71st Pikes Peak Rodeo season will hang through August 17th.
